My Stitch Fix is coming! My Stitch Fix is coming! I should probably be embarrassed about how ridiculously excited I am about this. I admit that I only know about Stitch Fix because I saw it on a former (now grown) chic student's Facebook page, but it seems perfect for fashion-challenged moms, too. It's an online "personal styling" service that sends you clothes in the mail to try on. You pay a $20 "styling fee" but that $20 goes toward any item you decide to purchase. (I rationalized away the $20 because that is actually less than it costs me in babysitting and parking to go to the mall to window shop for one hour. Even if I don't end up buying anything, I come out ahead, right? Right? Hmm.)
The way it works is you go online and answer a bunch of questions about your size, shape, and personal style. (I answered "sort of" to all the personal style questions, so I'm not sure how it's going to come out. Plus I put in the comments section that I refuse to iron or dry clean--I really hope my stylist is familiar with my type.) Then they send you five items and you have 3 days to decide whether to purchase or return things, and you send back anything you don't want in a pre-stamped envelope right from your home mailbox. (Obviously, if this thing involves a visit to the post office, I'm out, but I think I read the fine print on that correctly.)
If you want to try it with me, check it out here: http://stitchfix.com/sign_up?referrer_id=3348455

If I just added that link correctly, you can check it out. (I'll also consider becoming a technology blogger, because if I posted a link I'm just as qualified to write about technology as fashion.) Anyway, if you join through that link I'll get a $20 Stitch Fix credit. Just being honest--but they're not sponsoring me as a fashion blogger or anything. . . My first "Fix" is supposed to arrive on Wednesday and I just can't wait. I hope you'll help me decide what to keep. . . and then tell me what you get.
