I'm from California, and it's taken about twelve years to figure out that people on the East Coast wear boots in the winter. (They also wear warm winter coats, but that's a topic for another day.) More importantly, the Bethesda Moms wear boots. All the time. But somehow I thought boots were only for tall people.
I gave my boot consultant three requirements: they have to be comfortable, easy to style, and not too expensive. (I should have said "easy to care for" but I didn't even think of actual care for shoes!) She gave me some suggestions, and I ordered these when they went on sale after Black Friday.
(As an aside, we really do work incredibly hard in our department. All fashion conversations cited in this blog take place during Friday afternoon prep periods, which are basically a wash no matter how hard you try to use them productively.)
Anyway, my boots arrived right before Winter Break, and I LOVE them. I wear them all the time--in the house. But there's snow on the ground and I'm not sure if they can get wet. (They're leather--by Born. Any tips? Do you use polish or oil or something?) Maybe the 10 year-old is right: it IS rather ironic to have boots that can't get wet!
I once put the boots on over leggings and my 7 year-old got all excited and asked if we were going horseback riding. No joke. (They are "equestrian boots," but somehow the other moms don't look like Little Johnny Jones in theirs the way I do.) Needless to say, his comment set me back a few days, but I've finally started wearing the boots in public. So what do we think? Can I wear them to school? With what? And how do you rotate pictures on this thing?
